For her first experience behind the camera, celebrated actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg focuses on her relationship with her mother, the legendary Jane Birkin. From a concert in Tokyo in 2018 to October 2020, she follows her mother for almost three years, moving from her daily life in her Parisian flat and the family home in Brittany, creating a tender portrait that aspires to let the two women bond. With the help of a cinematographer, and sometimes using her own small camera, Charlotte engages her mother in conversation, and they gradually let down their defences, and create space for a new mother-daughter relationship to grow and heal.
